2007 Porsche Cayman
Selling My Cayman
I'm selling my 2007 Porsche Cayman. I've recently posted it on Autotrader and Kijiji and I've been overwhelmed with the response and the number of questions people are asking. I've set this site up to provide all the information I can as completely and honestly as possible.
Background:
This is my 4th Porsche I've owned:
1971 914/6
1999 911 C4
2003 Boxster S
2007 Cayman Base
This car is in Calgary and isn't/hasn't been driven in the snow.
I'm selling this car and my daily driver (2011 BMW 328X Drive Wagon) to buy one car (I'm thinking Audi S7 or Panamera)
I am the 3rd owner of this car
The car was originally purchased from Beverly Hills Porsche in March of 2008
The car was imported into Canada in February of 2012
I bought the car from the person who imported it in July of 2017
It was in a low speed accident in June 2020 - no frame or structural damage
Details and mechanical history:
The original owner had the engine replaced under warranty in 2011 at 60,000 miles = 96,000 km.
I've had the car serviced at AutoLeader here in Calgary for the entire time I've owned it. I have all my cars serviced there. They are German car specialists and they have been very good.
In the spring of 2019, I had the original sound unit professionally replaced with a new head unit (Sony XAV-AX1000) with Apple Car play. It is integrated with the existing BOSE system
In the spring of 2020, I had Autoleader:
install H&R Performance springs. This gave the car a slightly firmer ride as well as a much better lowered profile.
install spacers to push out the wheels (front 7mm and rear 25mm)
perform an alignment
beside the aesthetic, the handling performance is greatly improved with the resulting lowered centre of gravity
There was a low speed merge accident at the on ramp to 16th Ave NW from University Drive - it was drivable and I drove it home
while doing a shoulder check, the truck in front of me came to a complete stop. I did fairly well to avoid a direct nose to tail hit, but I couldn't avoid impact completely
the front right fender was driven (again, at low speed) under the bumper of the truck in front of me
the bulk of the damage was limited to the front right quarter panel. The bulk of the costs were:
replace the fender
replace the front bumper cover
replace the inner panel of the fender
replace the front right headlight
labour
While in the body shop, I took advantage of the situation to do the following:
repair any minor scratches or door dings
install and paint the upgraded front spoiler (cost of the spoiler -$500)
repaint the entire lower portion of the car
install the striping
When I picked up the car, it looked fantastic!
The only real blemish is a recently acquired scratch of (yup) the front right fender about 1.5 in long

So, what now?
If you're interested, and would like to come and take a look, please call or text me at 403-701-6576.
I'm in no hurry to sell and I know how this car compares to other Caymans. I am negotiable, but please don't call or text me and just throw a number out.
